Welcome to our erdkinder page! As the school year progresses, we will continue to share our experiences as we utilize the Engineering Design Process to help our school community. We are learning how to operate safely within the shop as well as tool safety, building communication skills that can be applied to working in a professional setting, and basic engineering concepts. We focus on school improvement by building and refurbishing furniture, as well as creating materials for the whole school to enjoy.
Exploration
We took apart electronics to see how they work.
Communication
We are learning how to communicate effectively. As engineers, we need to learn how to communicate with all types of people, backgrounds, and professions. These are lifelong skills that can be applied to real world experiences.
Rube Goldberg Designs
We are learning about Rube Goldberg designs, and how they use the six simple machines. We utilized all the steps of the Engineering Design Process to create their designs.
Cornhole Frames
We are making cornhole frames for the playground.
Erdkinder and the School Community
We are strengthening picnic tables.
Refurbishing and Repurposing
We are refurbishing classroom tables as well as repurposing an old shelf into multiple small shelves.
Mousetrap Cars
We are exploring materials that can be used in the process of building a mousetrap car. We are utilizing the Engineering Design Process to achieve a solid and successful design.
